The Coyle School of Irish Dance strives to instill in each student a respect for Irish culture by teaching various aspects of traditional Irish dancing. The school is committed to promoting teamwork among its students which in turn helps foster a family atmosphere within the school. So im currently writing to you from my hometown, Coventry. After a fabulous two months of touring.. im really loving every minute. The weathers fabulous and the audiences are great! It’s fantastic to see just how far the shows popularity has spread. There are lots of fans waiting for autographs etc afterwards. Next we are heading to Cyprus. 

I must shout out a hearty congratulations to two of the nicest people ive met in irish dancing, Jess Knight and Andrew Roberts. Whom recently got engaged! Cant wait for the wedding guys!

For all you show lovers, ive been looking at a new project set up by Brendan Galway and Derbhla Lennon on RTE. (An irish TV station) called Dance Off. They are holding auditions, X-Factor style, where week by week they are whittling down their dancers to a troupe of twelve people whom will win a place in Brendan’s new dance spectacular. Auditions are confined to Ireland unfortunately though, but im sure when they air the show, it will be on Youtube. So keep your eyes peeled, it sounds fantastic!

Speaking of Youtube, major kudos to the Celtic Steps advertisement. I spotted it on Facebook and think it’s a fantastic way to advertise irish culture and dance, and a great chance for people to learn a new hobby. I hope it’s popular for you!

So this week i was sent (via Facebook) a picture of a dress that was, near enough, a copy of my own. And whilst it’s a huge compliment, i couldnt help but be slightly angry that someone could be so blatant as to steal the colour scheme, aswell as the design, even down the the cuff detail. Has anyone else ever discovered a dress similar to their own? Were you mad, or flattered?

Tickets are flying out for Michael Flatley’s tour and extra dates have been added all over. Unfortunately it’s still England, Ireland & Germany but im sure if it’s a sucsess he’ll be heading across the waters to our colonial cousins and his homeland, America. Fingers crossed.

Lastly, id like to wish Megan Kerrigan the best of luck with her future endevours. She’s recently retired from competition and being in the same region was an honour and a privaledge to see her dance so often. She will be sorely missed. Good Luck Meg!

‘Grace glides on blistered feet’ -Martha Graham

Im sure you have all heard by now that the original Lord, Michael Flatley, is returning to the stage for a tour in the Autumn. If not then where have you been? (just kidding)

       The troupe hasnt been announced yet but were all very excited to get to see who dances with him – it would be an honour and a priviledge, but there are only so many places! however, ill keep you posted on that one; you can follow himself on Facebook and Twitter now, just type in Michael Flatley into the search engine and his official pages pop up. Tis great.
