Celtic Tiger DVD to be released in the UK
MICHAEL FLATLEY’S CELTIC TIGER DVD
ON SALE FROM MONDAY, 3rd APRIL 2006.
Universal Pictures are delighted to announce that Michael Flatley’s new show Celtic Tiger is to be released on DVD from Monday, 3rd April 2006. With incredibly powerful music, unbelievable costumes and breathtaking special effects, Celtic Tiger is an epic masterpiece that fuses the spirit and history of Ireland with dance and music.
"Celtic Tiger portrays the oppression of a people and the tiger symbolizes the awakening of their spirit and their struggle for freedom." Michael Flatley
Controversial and explosive, Celtic Tiger sets new standards in stage presentation and choreography. Celtic Tiger and its musical score represent quantum leaps forward in an arena scale theatrical production. Celtic Tiger heralds yet another defining moment in the career of Michael Flatley. As its creator and choreographer, the artist’s relentless drive and determination converge with his vision of Irish heritage and dance to deliver a show that roars with energy and defiance.
"The show itself is a 90 minute spectacular. It is very fast moving, powerful and hard-hitting and I think that it is something that you have never seen before." Michael Flatley
Ireland’s history provides a dramatic story board for Michael Flatley, challenging his creative ability to produce a spectacle that is at once provocative and sensitive. The story unfolds with the Celts; as darkness fills the stage, the pulsating sound of tap signals the beginning of a daring production that is masterful in terms of choreography, music, stage presentation and costume design.
Images of Irish history fill the first half of the show which ends with the portrayal of the birth of modern Ireland as a nation state and a people who are constantly emerging from the jaws of defeat. The choreography, music and stage presentation combine to create a visionary interpretation of a people’s quest for freedom and the nobility of their spirit. The second half builds on images of modern Ireland and celebrates new life in America and across the globe. The invincible spirit of the Celtic Tiger is the thread that draws the images together weaving a tapestry that is a celebration in dance drama.
Celtic Tiger is a thunderous spectacle that is set to become a global phenomenon thrilling audiences around the world, both live and on DVD. For its creator, it is a lifetime’s ambition come to pass. Accompanying this brand new live spectacular is a host of DVD extras including the stunning film "Tiger Feet" shot on location in Budapest it provides an emotional and inspiring insight into the creation of Celtic Tiger. Celtic Tiger the Live DVD is on release from Monday 3rd April 2006.

New Book - Liffey Rivers
Liffey Rivers and the Mystery of the Sparkling Solo Dress Crown
Book Description
There is more excitement at this Celtic Arch Feis in St. Louis than 13-year-old Irish dancer Liffey Rivers could have ever imagined! Liffey is determined to win a 1st place medal at this feis and earn her very own solo dress. Because Liffey is alone at most Irish dance competitions, she notices the little things that most people just walk right by. Like the suspicious looking man with the white stripe running down the back of his dark black hair (like a skunk), who is waiting for the up elevator. She has seen this man before, and he, like herself, is always alone. This time, however, she observes that he is carrying a shopping bag with a beautiful porcelain Irish dancer doll peeking out. The doll is wearing a dazzling diamond solo dress crown. But something is wrong.... Liffey follows the skunk man to get a better look at the doll, and in her pursuit for answers, she finds herself not only competing for the medal, but fighting for her own life. After a series of close calls and in a state of near collapse, Liffey finally solves the mystery of the sparkling solo dress crown.
About the Author
Brenna Briggs writes from the wild Northwest coast of Ireland where she lives with her family and bog dog, Cooga. After years of observing Irish dancers in their native feis habitats, the Liffey Rivers Brockagh Book Mysteries were written. When she is not working on the next Liffey Rivers adventure (The Mystery of the Winking Judge), Ms. Briggs explores the ancient castle ruins and fairy ringforts which surround her home.

The Algarve itself, is a compact, well-defined and historically ancient province, quite distant from the rest of Portugal. It is a south facing amphitheatre not quite 100 miles long, by about 30 miles at it’s widest. The coastal belt, where most Algarveans live, is fringed with sand-split islands, lagoons, drifted dunes, spectacular headlands, cosy coves and vast open beaches. From the coast, the land slopes gently up through vineyards, orchards of oranges and lemons, almonds and avocados, to ranges of rolling hills which separate it from the wide-open plains of the neighbouring province of Alentejo.
As in previous years , competitions will be held over the first 3/4 days, leaving the remainder of your holiday to relax and soak up the sun, or you may wish to join one of the many optional excursions we have planned during the week.

Lord of the Dance : My Story Autobiography
Michael Flatley's releasing his autobiography on March 7th 2006.
Hardcover: 352 pages
Publisher: Touchstone (March 7, 2006)
Language: English
ISBN: 0743291794
Book Description
From the international star of Riverdance and creator and star of Lord of the Dance, Feet of Flames, and now, Celtic Tiger, comes this no-holds-barred autobiography that reveals the person, the passion, and the drama behind Michael Flatley's astounding rise from the streets of Chicago to the heights of fame, wealth, and artistry.
After breaking onto the international dance scene as the star of Riverdance, Michael Flatley has shattered records, silenced doubters, revolutionized an ancient dance form, and brought joy to millions of people all over the world. But growing up in Chicago as the son of Irish immigrants, Michael did not show early promise. He played an old wooden flute, he fought in the schoolyard and in tournaments, and he helped his father dig ditches. It wasn't until he was eleven and was "dragged by the ears" to dance school that Michael found his calling. After winning virtually every major American Irish dancing competition, Michael went on to become the first American ever to win the All-World Irish Dancing Championship, catching the attention of some producers who were looking for step-dancing performers for their upcoming televised song contest. Riverdance -- and a new man -- were born.
The show became a huge hit, but Michael and Riverdance abruptly parted company. In this book, Michael explains what really happened backstage at Riverdance and how he went on to launch one of the greatest show business success stories of all time -- Lord of the Dance. In his own words, Michael tells what it's like to ride a rocket to stardom, and he addresses some of the drama and controversy that surrounds his success, like the 2003 rape charge, his turbulent love life, and the illness and injuries that have threatened his career. He also takes you behind the scenes for a look at the dancer's life, revealing how he creates his solos and shows and describing the training that has kept him dancing for so long.
Filled with commentary from family, friends, colleagues, and celebrities and brimming with Michael's Irish charm and good humor, this book is the very personal story of a man who has lived life to the fullest according to his own credo: Nothing is impossible.

MICHAEL FLATLEY ADDS ANOTHER DATE IN DUBLIN
Aiken Promotions are proud to announce that due to unprecedented demand Michael Flatley will stage his new show “Celtic Tiger” at the RDS Arena on Saturday, June 3rd, 2006. Tickets will go on sale on Monday next, February 13th at 9.00 am.
Tickets for the first show of CELTIC TIGER created by and starring Michael Flatley at Dublin’s Point Theatre on April 20th 2006 sold out in 8 minutes before Christmas.
‘I am delighted to be playing at the RDS. Dublin is my home from home and it is always a big thrill to be playing in front of a home crowd. We are going to light up that place,’ Michael Flatley said.
With his unrivalled skill and artistry, Michael Flatley ignites the world of dance once again with a bold, dramatic and daring production which fuses the spirit of Ireland and its history with dance and music. The result is an epic masterpiece in which Michael Flatley pushes the creative boundaries to deliver Irish dance as a dynamic and power art form.
"The show itself is a 90 minute spectacular. It is very fast moving, powerful and hard-hitting and I think that it is something that you have never seen before." Michael Flatley
Celtic Tiger is a highly charged and innovative show with breathtaking special effects making it not quite a stage show and not quite a feature film but uniquely somewhere in between.

"The show itself is a 90 minute spectacular. It is very fast moving, powerful and hard-hitting and I think that it is something that you have never seen before." Michael Flatley
